What is a school governing body ("SGB")?
A governing body of a public school is legislated as such by Section 16 of the South African Schools Act No. 84 of 1996 (as amended) ("SASA"). The governance of a public school is vested in its governing body.
Why a public school governing body association?
Legislation dictates that the governing body of a school may join a voluntary association representing governing bodies of a public school, (South African Schools Act No. 84 of 1996 - as amended - Section 20(3)).
